  1. The Gifts of Imperfection
    1. Brene Brown
      1. Rating 12/10
        1. Brene Brown has made it clear to us that we are all very imperfect. As humans, we go through life trying to impress others and be fake rather than just genuinely being ourselves. Brown really comes into this book and just says it how it is and doesn’t give us any advice; she doesn’t follow herself, and really seems to care about the reader. In The Gifts of Imperfection, we are being taught how to live with courage, compassion, and connection. She tells us not to be so serious about life all the time and to maybe play once and a while. Brown wants you to leave this book with practices you can use in your everyday life, and like it is said earlier she wants you to know that you are imperfect and that is normal, you are all unique in your own way, and being perfect is overrated.

  1. The Subtle Are of Not Giving a F**K
    1. Mark Manson
      1. Rating 10/10
        1. If you can get past the explicit title, you are in luck. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**K, really is about how everyday life struggles give it meaning. Everyone goes through struggles and those struggles are what build and strengthen people to get through the day. Mark Manson argues that the normal relentless positivity of the normal self-help book is really not that helpful. Manson uses his own personal life experiences to show that trying to be happy all the time through the hard parts of life is totally destructive. Some of the chapter titles really hit this whole thing on the nose with things like, “Don’t Try”, “Happiness is a problem”, and the most vivid one is the last chapter title “And then you die”. Manson wants you to know that it is ok to struggle and worry less about the legacy you leave and how you smiled through pain but to struggle and be in pain and not let that break you.

        1. When the book Wonder was released it became an instant classic. A huge part of the book is the idea of the precepts that were given to the students of Mr. Brown’s class. After the success of Wonder, the book 365 Days of Wonder was released giving the world all of the words that encouraged the students of Wonder for their everyday lives. There is one precept for every day of the year and it gives you a familiar feeling that you may have had when you were in a classroom as a young kid.
