Student Faith and Liturgy (SFL) continues to be one of the largest growing clubs at Juan Diego. This club focuses on organizing and managing religious events like masses, adoration, and community rosaries at our school.
This club began as a way to get students involved in the school masses and help with the technical aspects of running them. This group is currently led by Mr.Brunetti, Ms.Moynihan, Mr.Whiteman, And Father Micheal-Augustine, and boasts nearly eighty members.
Meeting at Seven AM every Tuesday morning before school, this group discusses significant events over bagels. Having a hand in Sunday Sunset Rosaries, Ash Wednesday mass, and All Saints Day mass, there is always an opportunity to get involved in our community.
Alex Moreno, a Senior who has been in SFL for 3 years describes this group as “a great way to get involved in the school and make friends”.
SFL is divided into three committees; Environment and Media, Ritual and Prayer, and the Mass Committee. Each handles separate vital aspects of SFL.
The Environment and Media committee organizes tasks like posters around the school, emails to the students and parents, and decorating our school for the liturgical seasons.
The mass committee focuses on what SFL is most known for, school masses. These events bring together our campus as a community and are what define us as a Catholic school.
The Ritual and Prayer committee organizes events like the Sunday Sunset Rosaries in the fall and
adoration every month. These outside-of-school commitments help get parents involved in the religious
aspects of our school. Sunday Sunset Rosaries are open to anyone who would like to attend and often see many attendees from SJB Elementary and Middle School along with their parents.
If you’re thinking about joining campus life, SFL is a great place to start. Get involved in the community and learn valuable lessons in teamwork and the technical side of these events. Join us and you will do much more than just set up chairs!
