The colorful cover, preparing you for the different tone you will hear in Manic.

From blue to rainbow, Hasley’s new album “Manic” is the best yet. Halsey’s new album not only is the best yet, but it also has a very different style. Most people have heard her song Colors, which displays a different variety of different installments, and the background music is just as loud as her singing. This album takes a turn to be something totally different, the most noticeable difference is the instrumental music.
The very first song is called Ashley, which is actually Halsey’s real name. The song starts off with a tech beginning. It had some positive vibes. The actual lyrics of this song are really dark, but in the end, there is a woman who speaks and gives an amazingly iconic line. “Too many guys think I’m a concept or I complete them or I’m going to ‘Make them alive’ But I’m just a girl Who’s looking for my own peace of mind Don’t assign me yours.” Clearly Halsey is one of few artists who can pull a line like that off and make it work so well.
“You Should Be Sad” is my favorite song on this album. This is a song that feels real, and it feels like she is speaking from her heart about a former boyfriend (my own theory is it is about G Eazy). The song is even written like she is about to have this conversation with a man. It also has a lighter string sound to it, but as soon as it gets to the chorus she brings the attention to her voice and brings out the lyrics to the song. “But you’re not half the man you think that you are And you can’t fill the hole inside of you with money, girls and cars I’m so glad I never ever had a baby with you ‘cause you can love nothing unless there’s something’ in it for you Oh, I feel so sorry (I feel so sorry).”
Going on with the wonderful album, there is a power song, which isn’t performed by Halsey. It’s called “Dominic’s Interlude.” This is in the beginning half of the album, and the song isn’t even very long. The preceding song ends with Halsey singing “Tell your man he’s got bad news coming,” which is exactly the same line that Dominic Fike sings in the song. It’s a break from the one voice we were hearing, and it is a savage song, to say the least.
Last, but not least, is the ending song, 929. As some people know Halsey was born on September 29, and in the song she says that she was born at 9:29 am. The way she starts the song is talking about this. She keeps a simple sting beat just like the theme of her album, and she is essentially giving life advice in her song. At the end of the song the stings cut out, and she is repeating the line, “Soft and slow, watch the minutes go, Count out loud, so we know you don’t keep ’em for yourself, watch the minutes go, Count out loud, so we know you don’t keep ’em for yourself.” While she is she says that she was really born at 9:26.

Overall Halsey’s album Manic is the best she has released yet, and it is a great way to start the new year off.
