8 Bold Predictions for 2020 You May Not Expect.

Last year was full of surprising events and trends, like the re-emergence of the flip phone from Samsung, the end of Musically and the start of Tik Tok, and the use of drones in daily life.

It certainly was a heavy year of advancements in technology, art, as well as sports.

2020 looks like it is going to be another big year, and in this article, we would like to predict what one might be seeing in the news later on in the year.

1. The Bowl Cut is Coming Back.

Singer, songwriter, and social media influencer Oliver Tree is one of the leaders in the bowl cut revival movement.

In the Avant-garde space of modern fashion, many trends occur that often based on, not very aesthetically pleasing styles. Perhaps it is the message in the styles that have the appeal, or perhaps some other reason, but nonetheless, I find it very possible that the bowl cut makes its way onto the scene. It’s not very farfetched when you consider that a personality like Oliver Tree, singer/songwriter, rocks this style. We can see him spreading it out.

2. Plant-Based Meats will Go Mainstream.

Beyond Meat and IMPOSSIBLE are the two leading (and competing) companies in the plant-based meat industry.

Prior to last year, meals consisting of plant-based meat have most mainly been contained to private restaurants, but this last year we saw a rise of the companies Beyond Meat and Impossible, connecting with multiple fast-food restaurants like Taco Bell and Burger King. I believe we will see plant-based meats continue to take spots on the fast-food menu in 2020, and maybe soon you’ll be eating a Beyond Meat(or Impossible) product without even knowing.

3. Vaping will die out but, cannabis products will continue to branch out.

At the end of 2019, the Trump administration raised the age threshold to buy vape products from 18 to 21. It seems that big media is largely afraid of vape products and the dangers associated with them. On the other hand, many companies are incorporating cannabis oil or other like ingredients into their products, like soap and such. Laws on cannabis could become very lenient in 2020, as more and more people urge their state to legalize marijuana and it becomes more and more mainstream.

4. Mike McCarthy will lead the Dallas Cowboys to a losing record.

Mike McCarthy meets with Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys’ franchise, in a press conference about his signing.

Recently, the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys organization fired longtime coach Jason Garrett. Garrett kept Dallas as a mediocre contender for years, often causing many 8-8 seasons. The Cowboys are considered to have great potential on the team, and so fans were constantly disappointed in the administration. Garrett’s replacement, Mike McCarthy, had coached for the Green Bay Packers, and he led them to a Super Bowl win. However, McCarthy has incredibly high expectations set on him, and he hasn’t even connected with these players yet. McCarthy’s time in Green Bay showed his favoritism for a pass-heavy offense, and every fan is scared that he will underutilize the Cowboy’s star running back Ezekiel Elliott, especially after Elliott’s recent large contract signing. It’s incredibly likely that McCarthy fails to meet these expectations, due to pressure and conflicting schemes.

5. Joe Judge will take the NY Giants to the playoffs.

Alternative to the last prediction, I believe that Joe Judge will actually be great for the New York Giants immediately. Judge comes from the long-lasted Patriots dynasty, and although he was the special teams and wide receiver coach, anyone who served alongside Bill Belicheck had to have picked up something. The Giants also need to develop receiving the most on their offense. They have a young quarterback who could be great for the future, but he’s throwing to no playmakers in the wide receiver position. (Although Golden Tate, Darius Slayton, and Sterling Shephard). Judge needs to make some signing moves, and I think that as an incoming coach, he would want to sign a big name played. Unlike the Cowboys, the Giants haven’t been stuck in mediocrity for a super long time. I can easily see them turning things around.

6. Broadway is going to get canceled.

I have a feeling that the biggest drama of the year will be found on broadway, but not in the way you think. Although this is more of a hunch with not much evidence to back it up, Broadway, being a center for art, has taken some risks in the past years for the sake of performance. As the art scene gets bigger and bolder, broadway will have to match it, and it will be hard to stay on all the viewer’s okay side. I predict that broadway will be on fire by critics at the end of this year.

7. Elon Musk’s Cybertruck will revolutionize motor vehicles.

At the end of 2019, Elon Musk showcased the new Tesla Cybertruck, a truck with amazing capabilities, beyond the current market. Along with this Cybertruck, Musk showcased the Tesla Cyberquad, an ATV on the same line as the Cybertruck. This Cyber line is an incredibly exciting prospect, as it is truly revolutionary. Whether it be directly or indirectly, Tesla’s accomplishments are going to have to force other car companies to match the technology, and motor vehicles are not going to be the same.

8. Great Britain to undergo some major political changes?

Great Britain is looking to leave the European Union, and many fear what that could mean for its economy. Other members of the European Union, like Wales and Scotland, are heavily against Great Britain leaving, and it’s uncertain how exactly a change like this will end up. However, 16th-century astrologer Nostradamus wrote 2020 to be a big year for Great Britain. He predicts that this year, Great Britain will be seeing a new monarch rise to the throne. Sadly for this new monarch, Nostradamus also wrote that Great Britain, the Great Empire, will fall. Perhaps these predictions are linked to the tumultuous political space in Britain at the moment. Nostradamus has been shockingly accurate about past predictions. I guess we’ll have to see what awaits this old Great Empire.
