Typically, coffee is just a standard, go-to morning drink with very little special about it. Places try to create new drinks that often have too much going on. The Clever Bean in Draper creates unique, but not over the top drinks to satisfy any drink craving you may have, including tea, soda, and coffee.

One day on the way home from a long school day, I saw The Clever Bean’s eye-catching logo and decided to stop and give it a try. As soon as I entered the building, I noticed the chill vibe that the shop had, as well as the fresh coffee smell. It was very comfortable and had plenty of comfortable seating for its guests. It was very bright and contained many humorous, yet subtle decorations. These included clever bean branding, creative artwork, sugar with googly eyes, and even a Stormtrooper holding a flag. My personal favorite decoration was the tip jars. There were two jars, one saying Post Malone and the other saying Karl Malone. There is also a bookshelf so you can get cozy while you wait for your drink.

The baristas were extremely pleasant and seemed to love their job. They were welcoming the moment I stepped inside. They also knew a lot about the drinks that they were serving, which is always a bonus.

After looking at their large selection of drinks, I decided to order their “Royal Hot Chocolate.” It was a rich, milk-based hot chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate shavings on top. The baristas made the drink quickly and very well. It was very rich and sweet, but not overpowering. My only criticism of the drinks were the price. You can get hot chocolate cheaper elsewhere, but not the quality of this one. One other minor criticism of The Clever Bean is the hours of operation. They open at eight in the morning, which is too late to get coffee before school, but it is definitely worth the wait to go later in the day.

The Clever Bean creates drinks that not only taste amazing, but look amazing. If you are looking for a cheap cup of coffee in the morning, this is not the place to go, but it is a great spot for dates or meeting with friends.
