As soon as you open the doors to The Porch in Daybreak you see greenery and lights hanging by the bar and somehow you know the food is going to be weirdly amazing. The Porch is a very stereotypical new restaurant with odd food pairings like trout and egg, but they are able to make it work wonderfully.

As you walk into the restaurant you see many different chairs, one of which I recognized from my uncle’s house. We walk to the hostess and they lead us to the wooden table that had a wooden bench seat. One of the very interesting things about the restaurant was the lighting too. It wasn’t the usual restaurant lights but rather it was a hanging exposed lighting and lots of windows.

this is one of their exotic foods, fish with an egg on the top. They had even left the skin on to keep if presented as fresh.

The food was wonderful at the restaurant, but I cannot say the same for the drinks. When they came out with an Arnold Palmer it was just straight lemon juice and tea, or in other words bitter. If you’re over 21  then there is more options, but when it comes to .a regular drink there was hardly anything to choose form. When they brought a dish out for an appetizer it was cheddar Beignets and pesto sauce, which was shockingly good. It was a fluffy fried piece of dough but in it they had the cheese which was just right rather than too much of one of the other.

My brother has always been a black sheep when it comes to trying new foods, and he had ordered a trout but it had a fried egg on top of it. He claimed that it was really good and the egg had complimented the spices with the fish. Then I had ordered the traditional (ish) hamburger. I take a bit and it was overpoweringly yellow crumbled cheese. It wasn’t a cheddar but it was more of a goat cheese which was truly terrible. Then the fries had made up for every flaw. They were lightly battered to be crispy, but the inside was fluffy and wonderful.

If you are into the new restaurant and want to try something new and unique then I would definitely recommend going to The Porch because it is something with a change of pace.
